Our Story
It really started over 50 years ago with Nick (he was VERY young!) at home in the kitchen alongside his mum - a brilliant, intuitive chef. That led to a lifelong passion for food and cooking.
Fast forward a few decades of family meals, garden parties, Christmas lunches, entertaining friends - and cookery courses with Mary Berry …
Now there’s an idea …
After a 30-year career in international professional services, it was (more than) time for a change. The lightbulb moment came when Nick and daughter Katie were in the middle of serving a six-course dinner for wife Tina and her friends to celebrate twenty years since they met at ante-natal classes.
“You should do this professionally” said one of the guests.
Taverners Event Catering was born.
The philosophy is simple: do what we love. Work hard but have fun preparing and serving great food at sensible prices. We love a good party, so we also want to help make every event a success, drawing on years of experience of having a good time - and organising more than a few big dinners and corporate functions. That’s what we’ve built our family business around:
Turning great ingredients into great food for great events.
Full service for any kind of event
We now offer a full range of catering and function support services, including event planning. Find out more in the relevant sections of this website, or get in touch for a chat.
A Serious Business
Don’t be misled. We may be a small family business, but we take it very seriously. It’s been a lot of hard work to get to where we are today.
Planning. Preparation. Training. Qualifications.
The health and safety of our customers and their guests is a top priority. We are based at Gerrards Cross Sports Club, with a full professional kitchen maintained to the highest standards. In our latest inspection we scored full marks, with no recommendations for improvement, and we were awarded the top Level 5 FSA food hygiene rating.
